I couldn't have said it better myself

I can't publish the cartoon in an easy to read size, so please click on it or the link below to be taken to its site. It's worth the trip if you are a cancer survivor or love one.

  2. Well thanks for visiting, Renn! How are you feeling? You're in my thoughts - I hope your recovery goes really quickly and that someone is helping take your mind off this nasty business, at least part of the time.

  3. I've had a few setbacks but am well, tks! I started my blog several months into my BC journey, so there is a lag time between what I am writing about and what I'm currently dealing with. (Thank goodness for hindsight and my journal!) My goal is to be in sync time-wise by the end of summer. PS Love your "What I'm doing to fight cancer today" sidebar! That is my next goal, to eat cleaner. How are you going about it? Any book suggestions?

  4. I am sorry for the setbacks, Renn. That sucks. I hope you are coping and thriving in spite of them.

I am so impressed with the heart you are putting into your writing; you are really helping other people. Keep going!

Re the cleaner eating, I am a big fan of Mark Bittman's new book Food Matters. I also do a lot of reading online. Colin Campbell's The China Study is certainly touted by many; I'm not there yet, but am a big believer that healthful fats and a diet high in vegetables, whole grains and fruit is supported by science as a good first line of defence against recurrence. For recipes, I have used the Cancer Lifeline Cookbook a lot (it's produced by a Seattle-based cancer support network but you can get it on Amazon). It has great information on eating well during and after treatment as well as advice on preventing recurrence.

Thanks for the positive feedback! I should add a few more items to that list. :-) Cutting back on the booze. Drinking lots of green tea. Playing games with my kids. :-)

I'll keep checking in - be well.

  5. Thank you Cynthia! I haven't read any of the cancer diet or cooking books, so i appreciate your vetting a few for me! I have just started to revamp my diet. Can only deal with so much at any one time!
Stay well. I'll check in again too! Enjoy your weekend.

  7. Woo hoo!!!!!!

An aside - I just made Dave's apricot jam so I'll let you know how it turns out. I already know that I forgot to put the lemon juice in. Blah. I also picked all the skins out as I was making it as they were an odd colour - must be due to the freezing. But the jam is very pretty.
